Are slides coming to SJP? - Stu Forster
Some more reaction from the win over Southampton, a new addition may be coming to St. James' Park, some transfer news, and more from the black and white world of Newcastle
I originally wanted to calls this "Let's go sliding" edition because of the story that has caught my eye and interests me the most. And though Newcastle is six points clear of relegation, I thought I should include a bit about ladders as well. So what if I'm superstitious? One can't be too careful! On to the links!
Slides may be coming to St. James' Park. The "travel accelerators" are used in Holland, but this would be their first use in England. They'd be used to help people avoid using the stairs.
Reaction from fans is a bit mixed, with some saying this is a bit "bizarre".
I would never advise you to read the comments on any site, but one commenter at The Mag suggests a zipline between Strawberry Corner and Percy Street. I'm all for ziplines to pubs.
Your thoughts on the slides? I'll include a poll.
Onto more, well, important measures...
As reported earlier, Sammy Ameobi, brother to Shola, is moving to Middlesborough, Usually Newcastle don't loan players to Boro, but staff felt this was a good way for Sammy to get playing time and be close enough where they could keep tabs on him.
Alan Pardew says Yohan Cabaye and Fabricio Coloccini will be ready to go for this weekend's match against Swansea. He also hopes to include Ben Arfa in the line-up.
Rob Elliot says his league debut was "like a dream". He acknowledges the rough start and talks a bit about playing the position.
Taking a look at some Swansea news:
Swansea won the League Cup, but now will have to fight to keep their manager.
On the bright side, the club should make some money off of their big win, so there's that.
Newcastle now sits on 13th, as West Ham slipped beneath them due to NUFC having scored more goals. Both clubs have 30 points and a -10 goal differential, but Newcastle have 38 goals to West Ham's 31.
How do you feel about slides being installed at St. James' Park?
