Here comes the boom. - Matthew Lewis

Three more points for the Magpies as Newcastle put some breathing room between themselves and the relegation zone.

There was a lot to be nervous about heading into this match. No Tim Krul against a rested Southampton side could spell trouble. Factor in all the mileage Newcastle had put in before the match with their trip to Ukraine, and the pressure mounted. Down 1-0 three minutes in was about the worst start Newcastle could ask for, but much of the day was a good one. On to the links!

Lee Ryder gives his match analysis. If you love the letter R, his first few paragraphs are right up your alley.

Here is The Guardian's match report.

How did Rob Elliot do in his debut? He was "terrific" says Alan Pardew.

Cabaye played hurt and Coloccini injured himself on an over head kick. Pardew feels both will be fine.

Cisse's wonder strike has drawn comparison's to Alan Shearer's best goals, though Cisse shrugs off those suggestions.

Cisse dedicated his goal to an eight-year-old boy who is recovering from chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Would you like a gif of that goal? Of course you would.

Though, some feel it should not have counted.

For fun, here's the Shearer goal that people are talking about.

Cabaye is being targeted by Arsenal and Manchester United for a summer transfer.

Middlesborough are interested in getting Sammy Ameobi on loan. Newcastle don't typically loan players to Boro, but may in this case.

Ben Afra, who has been linked to some other clubs, says he wants to win silverware at Newcastle.

You don't have to cringe looking at the table anymore. Newcastle sit in 14th on 30 points, 6 above the relegation zone and one above Sunderland.

There was one other match yesterday. Manchester City 2-0 Chelsea.

Here are your results from Saturday.

Sunderland lost. They've lost three straight. I'm not taking credit, but Sunderland haven't won since this feature started.

There's one game today as Tottenham take on West Ham.
