The 26-year-old was stopped on Tuesday near the club's training ground by Northumbria Police officers. His car, a Chevrolet Camaro estimated to be worth about £75,000, was seized by Northumbria Police, who said inquiries were ongoing. Tiote, who has only just returned from the Africa Cup of Nations with the Ivory Coast, joined Newcastle from Dutch side FC Twente in 2010 for a fee of £3.5m, and the defensive midfielder has made a big impression since arriving at St James' Park.
