Demba Ba is Mr. 1000 For Newcastle United

Following a disappointing first half that saw Newcastle United losing at halftime 1-0 (though it felt worse than that), Demba Ba was subbed on for a completely ineffective Sylvain Marveaux (a relic of the failed 4-2-3-1 experiment of Alan Pardew). Within four minutes of his introduction, Demba Ba and Yohan Cabaye combined to notch Newcastle United's 1,000th Premier League goal. Yet another inch-perfect pass from Yohan Cabaye to the Senegalese put him in prime position to wrong-foot Tim Howard and slot home across the face of goal from about 17 yards out.

Tactically speaking, Alan Pardew also switched James Perch and Vurnon Anita from and to right back respectively with Perch sliding forward into the CDM role, and it looked a completely different Newcastle team from the first half. There are 30 minutes yet left in the second half, so there may still be more in it... but at this point,

CONGRATULATIONS, DEMBA!
