The Premier League match between Chelsea and Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge originally scheduled for April 14 has been rescheduled due to the Blues' advancement in the FA Cup. (NUFC Official Site) The new date for the game, which could be a pivotal match in the race to qualify for European competition, is Wednesday, May 2.
Newcastle already has games on the surrounding weekends: April 28 at Wigan Athletic and May 6 versus Manchester City at Sports Direct Arena. All 3 opponents are fighting for something and figure to be doing so in about a month's time. Wigan is mired in a relegation battle, City are after the Premier League title, and Chelsea will be aiming for a Champions League spot. This will be a stressful week for the Toon Army, but the good news is that Fabricio Coloccini will probably be healthy for the Chelsea match (fingers crossed), where he would have been a question mark before.
