Should we get used to seeing Nile Ranger in someone else's kit?
In a move that has surprised absolutely no one, Nile Ranger is on his way away out of Toon. On the heels of his most recent arrest (an arrest, mind, that came because he wouldn't stay away from the City Centre. Honestly?), one had to speculate exactly how much career Nile had left on Tyneside... and it seems that the answer is "not much".
The reason behind Nile's latest arrest is perhaps a little silly... but the fact remains, Ranger's actions belie a fundamental resistance to grow up and do what he should do and this refusal indicates that it may be time to cut loss on him. It would have been hoped that the back room staff would be able to turn the striker away from the dark side, get him playing to his potential, then sell him on to Liverpool for £35m a la the former #9 shirt. It seems, however, that the dream may be a bridge too far and the loan to Sheffield Wednesday may be the final touch on the death of Nile Ranger's ultimately disappointing Newcastle career.
