Awesome.

I’m jealous- starting my own sort of savings for something like this, though with a cross-country move (and likely back) on the cards, hard to save :/

Not much sure on eating/staying… but I think that if you’re looking for adult beverage, The Berry Pub should be on top of the list.

Nice!

Sounds like a fantastic trip. I think most of us here on the blog are from the US (myself included) so I can’t recommend any places personally, as I’ve never been to Newcastle. The closest I got was a layover in Heathrow while traveling from Chicago to Berlin. That being said, I think that there are a couple of tourist spots you might want to visit while in Northeast England.

Newcastle’s chinatown arch is close to the stadium and it is a bit of an icon:

But the Angel of the North is a symbol of the entire region and just looks incredible. I highly recommend that you get your picture with it:

There are loads more but I don’t want to make this post too long.
And obviously the stadium itself and the crowd and just the whole atmosphere of it all!

definitely getting a picture with the angel of the north

I’m planning on touring St. James, Anfield, Old Trafford, Craven Cottage, Stamford Bridge, and the Emirates and then catching at least one Newcastle game maybe too won’t know for sure till this summer.

Wow

That sounds like an awesome trip. wuds100 is from the area, so we’ll have to make sure to get him to chime in.

Someday i hope to get there too. Hope when the fixtures come out you get to see NUFC against ManU or Chelsea or even Sunderland.

I'm a Yank also, and I've never been to a live EPL match, so I may be mistaken...

but I have heard that it is nearly impossible to buy a ticket to a derby match like NUFC-SAFC without a ticket-buying history with the club. Again, I may be misinformed.

Anyway, congratulations Chris. I hope to make the pilgrimage sometime in the next several years myself. I was lucky enough to see the Toon in KC this summer, but I can’t even imagine how amazing it would be to see a match at St. James’ Park. Looking forward to the pictures and stories.
