Would have been helpful with regard to Arsenal,

but hard to get too worked up when the scum lose, of course.

Same.

But with Chelsea/Liverpool/scum losing it’s been a good morning for us. Now for the hard part…

Good to see Fergie on the bench

Hopefully he’ll come on late when Guthrie runs out of old-man juice. Unfortunately, I’m going to be at a workshop for TFA…. because of course I am.

Well come on

no brilliant comebacks can happen if you’re giving the ball away on all of your possessions

by bcschles on Feb 11, 2012 5:46 PM GMT reply actions

and giving them time

to take shots like Kranjar just did

by bcschles on Feb 11, 2012 5:46 PM GMT up reply actions

I wish we started Shola

so that when Cisse came on at half time the Spurs defense would flip out and then he’d score a hat trick

This is incredible.

If you want beef then bring the ruckus.

by lowellthehammer on Feb 11, 2012 5:50 PM GMT reply actions

Wow Spurs suck

Arsenal only need 10 minutes to score 3 goals

by bcschles on Feb 11, 2012 5:50 PM GMT reply actions

so williamson left his man but really

that’s ok he had to cover the cross… but our mids are just not tracking back to help the defense out

Win or lose, we'll always be there for you.

by johnjahafanclub on Feb 11, 2012 5:51 PM GMT reply actions

You know, a big part of that Arsenal comeback

is that when they got the ball in the attacking third, they kept passing up good shots to find van Persie so he could have a hat trick. Maybe Spurs will start trying to feed Saha.

tell Warren Barton to tighten up on that right side and Solano needs to run at Parker more

then no one will get points right?

by bcschles on Feb 11, 2012 6:06 PM GMT up reply actions

No

As long as you predicted less than 6 goals, you’ll always get your goal scorer bonus. The failsafe is to keep people from saying “Toon 10, Spurs 10, goals from everybody on the pitch”

by Robert L. Bishop on Feb 11, 2012 6:07 PM GMT up reply actions

I picked him as our scorer

So if Newcastle finish with one Perch goal I will get so many points!

by bcschles on Feb 11, 2012 6:20 PM GMT up reply actions

I hope we don't finish in 4th.

Because it could be even worse in the Champions League.

by MychalShannon1 on Feb 11, 2012 6:21 PM GMT reply actions

We’d need a lot more than Cabaye, Tiote and the Taylors to even compete in the CL.

by MychalShannon1 on Feb 11, 2012 6:24 PM GMT up reply actions

APOEL is in the final 16.

We wouldnt be that bad.

If you want beef then bring the ruckus.

by lowellthehammer on Feb 11, 2012 6:26 PM GMT up reply actions

And I want to finish as high as possible.

The higher we finish the more likely we keep our key guys.

If you want beef then bring the ruckus.

by lowellthehammer on Feb 11, 2012 6:28 PM GMT up reply actions

Precisely.

There’s like…nothing to lose from playing CL soccer. Don’t understand the sentiment that we shouldn’t aim as high as possible.

If you want beef then bring the ruckus.

by lowellthehammer on Feb 11, 2012 6:30 PM GMT up reply actions

I think if we qualify for the Europa League key guys will stay because it’ll show progress. I know we’d get more money if we finished 4th but i’m afraid of what could happen if we’re put in a tough group.

by MychalShannon1 on Feb 11, 2012 6:30 PM GMT up reply actions

You have to finish 3rd to fall into the Europa league.

by MychalShannon1 on Feb 11, 2012 6:33 PM GMT up reply actions

Ah, okay

So, worst case scenario, they get a taste of European play, get eliminated early, and focus on the league.

by Robert L. Bishop on Feb 11, 2012 6:36 PM GMT up reply actions

but the point of focusing on the league

is to qualify for the CL, unless you are in it to win it (and we’re not quite there yet)

by bcschles on Feb 11, 2012 6:37 PM GMT up reply actions

So what are we saying here?

We’re not likely to do well in the Champs League, so better not to try anyway?

by Robert L. Bishop on Feb 11, 2012 6:38 PM GMT up reply actions

This is exactly why I think qualifying for the Europa league this season would be better than qualifying for the CL. We’re just not there yet.

by MychalShannon1 on Feb 11, 2012 6:41 PM GMT up reply actions

I don’t know I’m probably overreacting because we’re down 4-0 right now. Not quite thinking straight.

by MychalShannon1 on Feb 11, 2012 6:42 PM GMT up reply actions

if we finish third

we get to go to the Europa League, top 2 qualify for CL knockout stages. And there’s a lot of bad teams that make the CL group stage because they win 1st in their rather weak domestic league

by bcschles on Feb 11, 2012 6:32 PM GMT up reply actions

Oh, Fergie

They were giving Guthrie plenty of room, he didn’t have to play that ball to Ba

by Robert L. Bishop on Feb 11, 2012 6:49 PM GMT reply actions

Who: Ben Arfa

When: Now
Where: On the pitch
Why: Because he puts the team on his back
How: Sub him on!

by bcschles on Feb 11, 2012 6:51 PM GMT reply actions

So what your saying is Ben Arfa is like Greg Jennings?

by MychalShannon1 on Feb 11, 2012 6:55 PM GMT up reply actions

FUUUUUUUUUUU

If you want beef then bring the ruckus.

by lowellthehammer on Feb 11, 2012 6:54 PM GMT reply actions

I am dreading the post game...

I can’t think of a player who will get a rating higher than 3.5… Maybe Ba for that free kick that almost went in? Really rough day

by lowellthehammer on Feb 11, 2012 7:24 PM GMT up reply actions

Well this is a game that we probably were always going to lose

I think the most realistic thing we can hope for is to beat the sides below us, take care of home advantage, and hope to snag any points we can away from home. This is not a good way to start a 2 week break but maybe this will give Ashley further proof we need 2 new defenders not only one.

2 new defenders n hope Abeid is ready!

We lost in the midfield! Lets not talk abt our backline!

by Souvik Roy Chowdhury on Feb 11, 2012 7:25 PM GMT up reply actions

To be fair we didnt have our 2 main midfielders there so I will give the MF a pass

I think with Marveaux coming back, he could give us the service we need from the wing instead of Obertan. We just have to hope Marveaux stays healthy, Obertan learns how to cross better, and maybe get a young winger. At his rate I think HBA is gone next summer, lets sell him for as much as we can and use that money on one or two new players.
