1. Alan Smith
2. 5th? In all honesty, I thought 8th was optimistic when the season started. A lot depends on the answer to #3…
3. If they bring in another young winger or striker, 3. If they don’t, 8. 10 if Colo has a knock.
Hm
1. Nothing. I have no connection to Senegal, and I was always rooting for their elimination. Same thing with the Ivorians.
2. 5th would be the absolute ceiling.
3. 10

1. As luck would have it, I can offer my body to his country. The Quakes just announced a double header against Houston in SF’s AT&T park that has Mexico vs. Senegal U-23’s as the second match. So I will hereby resolve to bring my Newcastle flag and join the Senegal fan section after the Quakes game is over.
2. 4th. Chelsea will be distracted by champions league matches and we are in a dead heat with Arsenil and Loserpool.
3. 10. If broke and relegation-threatened Bolton can bring in Tim Ream and 2nd division West Ham can get George John, then we can get a CB dammit.
Win or lose, we'll always be there for you.

1. I dunno. Honestly I just hope they don’t resent me for rejoicing in Senegal’s failures.
2. Fourth. Even in the most optimistic of scenarios I can’t see us leapfrogging any of the current top three.
3. Hm. 6 or 7, rising to 10 if we lose someone key.

1- Blackburn away on a cold wet and windy Wednesday night.
2- I would target Europe but not expect it.
3- I’m gonna go with a middle 5 here as the need is apparent but at the same time I don’t want us to end up reaching and get another James Perch on a 4-5 year deal.

Answers are fun!
1. I cannot beat either wuds or jjfc… so I’m not going to try.
2. Perhaps it’s a bit pessimistic, but I’m thinking maybe 6th is our ceiling. It’s hard for me to figure that we can stay above Arsenal and Liverpool both… but who knows… if Papiiss Cisse jumps in and scores like his hair is on fire, then that may change things…
3. I’m with wuds in not wanting to reach… but it’s going to be a very very angry 10… problem is we’ve had ample time to line up someone that isn’t a reach. I will be angrier than 10, probably, but not as angry as if the stupid rumors about the former number 9 shirt had come to fruition (not that there was any chance of that, anyway)

You maybe further angered on Sat as Colo looks doubtful
So it could be back to Perch deputising again.

Ugh...
If he is going to be out for any amount of time, can I revise my ceiling?

three answer Friday
as I wrap up a workweek.
1) I happen to be of mixed Zambian-Equtorial Guinean heritage….so therefore my first loyalties always laid with them. Not really, but with no particular rooting interet in AFCON I was always going to be pragmatic. Sorry, Demba I and Demba II.
2) I think 4th should still be the dream, but I think making Europa League is a reasonable goal.

3 answer Saturday here
Question 1:
I think they are smart enough to understand that we were rooting against them because all the love we have for them! lol We wanted them back as soon as possible because we think they are special so if they look at it that way, I think most NUFC fans will be fine :)
Question 2:
Unless a big injury happens to Chelsea or Tottenham, I think the most we can expect is 5th, which is great. If we get in a decent defender, I can see us moving maybe to 4th but we would have to be on fire.
Question 3:
It has to be a 13 for me if we dont get a defender in. I mean, it would seem like we can never fill a position of need when we need to. It would seem like its mandatory to wait for at least 1 transfer period in order to fill a position of need as opposed to doing all due diligence and getting a deal done quickly.
