Newcastle only played 3 games in November, going 1-1-1 as they defeated Everton, lost to Manchester City, and beat Manchester United. (Brief aside: the Toon will play 6 games in December. International breaks are dumb.) In each of the 3 matches this month, the CHN Man of the Match received an overwhelming majority of the votes, meaning that we've got a fascinating 3-man race this time around. Follow the jump for a breakdown of the candidates.
Ryan Taylor
Raylor was the Man of the Match for Newcastle's 2-1 victory over Everton on November 5. He received 70% of the vote for this strike:
His next performance (against City) was not so well received, as a deliberate handball in the box and a defensive howler just minutes later gave the Citizens all the cushion they needed. Still, look at that goal. Mmm.
Steven Taylor
Saylor was named Man of the Match in the City game, receiving 64% of the vote for his defensive efforts. He had 5 blocks in this game, then followed that performance up by adding another 5 against Manchester United (he also received votes in that match). Taylor has been a huge part of Newcastle's defensive identity so far this season.
Tim Krul
Krul received 78% of the vote for his virtuoso performance against Manchester United, where he made 2 spectacular saves and added several others, many of them above average in their own right. He kept the game a draw following Jonas Gutierrez' ejection. He also received votes for the Everton game.
Fabricio Coloccini
Colo was the only man nominated for all 3 matches. Such has been his consistent play on the young season. He wasn't enough of a standout to win any of the votes, but his play certainly merits recognition.
Danny Simpson
Newcastle's defense came up big in Newcastle's draw with Manchester United, and perhaps no single play was bigger than Simpson's goal line block on Javier Hernandez' header in the 86th minute. In a game where Tim Krul was the obvious choice for Man of the Match, Simpson still garnered 6% of the vote.
