Coming to an Argentina near you, Spiderman!
IFA and manager run out of ideas with Ferguson - Football - News Letter
So a long week is done. Here's hoping that the lads that are out on international duty this weekend are successful and come back uninjured, and that you are able to watch your favorite International side and they are successful as well, unless they happen to be playing the US (that's you, Honduras) or Scotland (Liechtenstein), in which case I hope the suffer a very heavy defeat. Without further ado, links!
Shane Ferguson is a talent at the U21 level... it must be difficult for a lad with all the different ways one can represent whichever from the Home Nations they would want.
The early week popular topic was centered on whether Saylor is international quality,. At the very least, he's in with a shout in the group that they're putting out there as the possible next generation. On the strength of his form this season, it's hard to see him left out, however I can understand that (much like myself with our forwards) Capello would like to see a slightly larger body of work with this consistency.
The few times that I've seen Sammy, I've been quite excited and impressed. I hope that he can continue on an upward rise with his talent and career.
Now Richardson would love to do it on the big stage, he added: "It’s a dream. Every local lad wants to play for Newcastle. Hopefully I can keep getting chances and keep enjoying my football."
This is a very nice little piece about where Michael Richardson has come from to be with NUFC. It always makes me, as a fan, feel good to hear a quote like the one above.
Here's another name from the rumor mill to keep an eye on with regard to January. The fact that several clubs are tracking the kid probably would rule him out for us in January (winter window pricing and all), but it's out there, so here it is.
Apparently HBA missed out on the reserve match this week due to family health issues in Tunisia. CHN hopes and wishes Hatem's family restored health and Hatem safe travels. It does have to be said, however, that 90% of this article is about the reserves match anyway, so the titling is a little off... but it drives clicks, I'm sure.
It's an interesting morning for 'quotations' in titles. Coloccini is 'happy' at NUFC... not sure why those are there. He has stated that he would like to extend his own deal at St. James'. Whatever. This one got me to click too, so maybe they should be called 'click marks'.
If you hadn't noticed, Jonas has been playing pretty well of late. He has been called back into the Argentina setup (Congratulations, Spiderman!)-- very long weekend of travel for him, though. Although in a vacuum, you wouldn't sit him for any reason, I wouldn't think, the travel and all maybe opens a little crack in the door to see Marveaux start against Spurs, I would think.
There's really not much to this article, but I found this quote a little interesting regarding Tiote:
However, asked if the midfield enforcer had been judged harshly because of comparisons with last season's form, Pardew said with a smile: "A little bit - and also a little bit that he needed to get over his holidays.
Of course one of the topics of discussion this week at CHN was Steve Harper's status with the club. Harps has come out publicly and said there is now falling out with Pardew-- but either way, would you really have expected him to say anything else?
Happy International Week! Friday starts the weekend!
