Around SBN: BJ Penn Says He's Not Interested in Fighting Josh Koscheck

CHN Links: Saturday Edition

Good morning, Toon Army. Is now a good time for Fabio Capello to go after #9? Are people really that upset about the time change of a game that's 30 days away? Find out after the jump.

Read between the lines, Citizens.

The speculation about Andy Carroll's potential call-up to the national team continues to build. Louise Taylor reports that Fabio Capello has not yet spoken with Chris Hughton about Andy. Carroll gave an interview with Simon Bird where he "sent a message" to Capello that he's ready to play. He also gave an interview with Lee Ryder, saying that he's completely focused on The Citizens. The truth likely lies somewhere in between, as it often does. Mark Lawrenson writes that it may be too soon for The Three Lions to be relying on Carroll. This is a convincing viewpoint. As nice as it would be for Andy Carroll to make a name for himself on the international stage, he still seems a bit young for that stage. Then again, he might as well get his feet wet against a team like Montenegro.

Sky Sports is reporting that Chris Hughton "has hinted" that he will start Jonas Gutierrez at Eastlands.

One of the stories I'm starting to get used to during an away week is the one about how Joey Barton will handle the away crowds - not to mention the players on the opposing team. This week's iteration of the story is of particular interest because he sustained a broken foot at Eastlands in 2009. Lee Ryder has the details.

The Newcastle United Supporters Trust is upset that the Halloween match with the mackems has been moved at the request of the police. I don't usually comment on the comings and goings of the NUST, but I don't see a legitimate complaint here. They would rather that the club didn't cooperate with the authorities?
